Don’t you wish we could all go back to those days when our parents required us to take a nap? I use to do everything in my power not to take a nap when I was little, but now I wish someone would institute a grown-up nap-time. The Boston Globe recently published an article about how beneficial naps are. Here are a few of the benefits to napping!
-A Slew of studies have shown that naps boost alertness, creativity, mood, and productivity in the later hours of the day
- A Nap of 60 minutes improves alertness for up to 10 hours
-Research on pilots shows that a 26-min nap in flight (while the plane is manned by the copilot) enhanced performance by 34% and overall alertness by 54 %
-One Harvard study published this year showed that a 45-minute nap improves learning and memory.
-Napping reduces stress and lowers the risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes and excessive weight gain
